Is it true that Petroleum Jelly can cure brittle hair?

i just had my hair rebond a month a go.. and i found some brittle in the left potion of my hair.. i hate it a lot.. and i want to get rid of these.. can anyone tell me what to do to cure the brittle? can Petroleum Jelly helps? i need answers.. any tips and advice aside from Petroleum Jelly.. please?
