Hey, I just read that too! For symbolism, the Night itself is a symbol. When Elie first goes to concetration camp and sees people being burnt, it is nighttime. When he runs 50 miles to a new camp, it is nighttime. Night symbolizes misery and change in the book, and I'm sure you can come up with more things that happen in the night that are symbolic.
