Are you suppose to wash your hair everyday?

I have curly dry brittle hair and so do i need to wash my hair everyday or not? because if washing it makes it oily dont i need the oil sense its dry? or does washing your hair dry it out??....ive always washed my hair everyday so do i wash it everyday or not if it dry curly and brittle and very sensitve to heat
